Blog / How to Successfully Install a Screen Protector Without Air Bubbles

by BodyGuardz
In 2021, our phones are essentially extensions of ourselves. We use them to play games and listen to music, for work and for school, to send and receive calls (well, usually texts), and more. Modern-day smartphones are, for all intents and purposes, pocket-sized supercomputers that accompany us at all times. We store everything on them from irreplaceable photos to sensitive financial information. So, when it comes to protecting your device (and everything on it), you need a great defensive strategy in a screen protector—installed without air bubbles or other blemishes. Starting with a tempered glass screen protector is a surefire slam dunk. As phones get more advanced and their screens become more sensitive, protecting your device is absolutely crucial if you don’t want your screen (and your phone) to be one and done. Twice as strong as the leading competitor, a BodyGuardz tempered glass screen protector is the best defense against accidental yet irreparable damage—and each one comes with everything you need to quickly and effectively install it at home.
Once your existing screen protector has been removed, it’s time to get to work. First, thoroughly clean your phone’s screen with the sanitizing wipe and remove any streaks with the microfiber cleaning cloth (both included). Next, gently tap your phone’s screen with the dust-removal stickers to take off any remaining dust particles. In order to avoid air bubbles forming under your phone screen protector, it’s essential to be extremely thorough when removing dust.
After cleaning your phone screen and removing any dust particles, it’s time to install your screen protector. Gently place the install guide on top of your device—ensuring the orientation of the screen protector and your phone match. Next, while holding the protector, peel off the plastic backer to expose the adhesive before carefully placing it on your phone screen. Once you’re sure the screen protector is aligned, gently yet firmly press and run your finger down the middle of the screen to begin adhesion, and remove the install guide. Then, using your finger and the microfiber cleaning cloth, push any remaining air bubbles to the edges of your screen. Still seeing some air bubbles after closely following all the steps above? No need to panic—we aren’t done yet.
If you’re still seeing air bubbles under your screen protector, it may be possible to remove them. First, try waiting a few hours—rogue air bubbles will often work themselves out. If after 24 hours they haven’t disappeared, there may still be dust particles on your phone screen beneath your protector. If that seems to be the case, you can try using the dust-removal stickers once more. Carefully lift up the corner of your screen protector closest to the remaining dust particles, place the sticky side of a dust-removal sticker against the piece of dust, and pull the sticker directly out. Stubborn air bubbles still hindering your screen protector’s installation after you’ve exhausted all other options? You may need to install a new screen protector. If that’s necessary, we recommend ordering a free replacement (all BodyGuardz screen protectors come with free replacements for the life of your device). Once you receive your replacement, carefully lift one corner of the old protector, slowly peeling it off your device. Now you can install your brand-new replacement screen protector, courtesy of BodyGuardz.
